Brian Rood is a professional illustrator in the entertainment industry, widely recognized for his photorealistic watercolor and mixed-media paintings inspired by the Star Wars™ saga. For much of the past two decades, Brian’s artistic career has taken him to a galaxy far, far away, where his distinctive approach to illustration has helped bring iconic characters, scenes, and stories to life.
Brian’s artwork for the Star Wars™ franchise has appeared across an impressive range of projects, from fine art reproductions to illustrated storybooks created for Lucasfilm and Disney Publishing. Over a seven-year period, he created more than 1,000 new illustrations for an expansive storybook retelling of the Star Wars™ trilogies. His Lucasfilm and Disney Publishing projects have reached bookstores around the world, and his artwork has also appeared in a special Star Wars™ anniversary edition of Time magazine.
Throughout his career, Brian’s artwork has been commissioned and featured by many of the major licensees producing official Star Wars™ merchandise. His talents have also contributed to the creation of new artwork for Lucasfilm style guides, helping shape the visual presentation of one of entertainment’s most celebrated franchises.
Beyond publishing and licensed merchandise, Brian has developed an extensive body of collectible fine art. His officially licensed reproductions for Disney, Marvel, and Lucasfilm have been featured throughout Disney Parks for more than a decade. He also enjoys connecting personally with collectors during special appearances and events at Walt Disney Parks and aboard Disney Cruise ships.
Brian’s original paintings can be found in private collections around the world, while many of his official Star Wars™ creations have been acquired by George Lucas himself—a distinctive connection between the artist and the legendary universe that has played such an important role in his career.
When Brian is not creating his next illustration or fine art piece, he enjoys spending time with his wife and two children in Southern Michigan.
