Art Notes
McWay Cove is one of those places that doesn’t seem quite real – a hidden paradise where a waterfall spills directly onto a secluded beach, surrounded by cliffs that glow in the coastal light. It’s Big Sur at its most magical.
What challenged me most was capturing that impossible turquoise water. I layered translucent glazes for weeks, trying to get that luminous quality where you can almost see through to the sandy bottom. The way the light shifts from deep teal in the shadows to brilliant aqua in the shallows – it had to feel alive and inviting.
I hope this painting brings the peace of Big Sur into your space – a reminder that there are still places in this world untouched and extraordinary, waiting to take your breath away.
