Art Notes
On a cool wet day, citizens of Earth expected to go about their business in a normal fashion in their city. They didn’t expect to see Thor battling to protect them and Earth from the Destroyer. Should they stop and watch in awe, or should they run into the nearby shops for protection? This is a battle that Thor can most assuredly win.
Thomas Kinkade Studios® proudly presents our new Marvel collaboration; Thor.
Key Points:
- Thor is filled with many nods to iconic parts of the character’s comic book history. For example, the license plate on the taxi reads #83, the number of Marvel’s first Thor comic.
- The number above the door to the right of The Destroyer, 1962, is the year that the first Marvel Thor comic was published.
- The awning behind The Destroyer, Foster’s, bears the name of Marvel Thor’s love, Jane Foster.
- Can you spot the neon sign says Asgard – a tribute to Marvel Thor’s home?
- The newspaper on the ground, blown by the battle, is The Daily Bugle, a fictional New York City newspaper that appears in many Marvel comics.
